the damage along the boardwalk. >> brianne carter is there this morning as we survey the damage. >> quite a few changes in ocean city this morning. the rain has stopped, but the wind is still living. we understand delmarva power is reporting some people are in the dark. look behind me and see all the boardwalk lights are out. we do have power here at the hotel, but the power along the boardwalk seems to be out. delmarva power reporting that there are scattered outages of ocean city. there's a lot of damage here as well because of the flooding, but also because of the been andrea -- because of the wind and waves. several fences along the boardwalk are now either bent or broken. several homes and businesses are flooded. we are waiting for crews to be able to get out and start assessing the damage in coastal city. we understand we have several bridges in maryland that are closed. -- assessing the damage in ocean city. we expect to get high tides around 8:19 down at the pierre that is damaged from the storm yesterday -- at the pier. it will be about assessing the damage and cleaning up in oce

screen. brianne carter is live at landover. she joins us with the latest. >> good morning. prince george's county -- they were not in a bad area because the power barges, but they are still waiting to find out whether to schools will reopen. we are here -- you can see the lights are on. that is a good sign. hopefully that means they'll be able to return to class today. there are still to schools and another that will be questionable. we expect we will hear from officials with prince george's county school as to whether or not this school and indian queen elementary school will be back open today. the latest update came at 1:00 this morning from school officials -- is that schools and offices will be open by a decision on the schools remains to be seen. they will give us an update by 5:00 this morning. power crews have been working a crop -- around the clock to get everybody back on line as quickly as possible, including this goal and the other that remains of that power. we are awaiting word as to whether or not the students will be heading back here today. we are expecting to get an upd

not far from the capitol after something found inside forced the entire staff to evacuate. brianne carter has the latest. >> the scene has been cleared. the employee is allowed to go back to work. in much different seen earlier this morning at the canadian embassy says around 9:00 a.m. they discovered a suspicious package what they identified as -- as suspicious letter in the mail room. it was taken to a secure location. the secret service were called in. at this point of not identified what made this letter suspicious. secret service came in. was evacuated for about 1.5 hours. hazmat crews were called to the scene, as was the fbi. the hazmat crew made their way inside to look at exactly what was going on with this letter. >> it is safe, they have taken away for further examination. hopefully there will identify who has done it and why. >> did not know who sent that but it is unclear as to who that might have been addressed to here at the embassy. the ambassador says in the past they have dealt with similar incidents like this and have a plan in place when something like this happens. tha

with a protest which could snarl traffic in the district. brianne carter is live this morning with details on today's protest. >> disruptions and delays downtown. that is what we have to watch for this morning. protesters are holding a series of events to mark the anniversary of the occupy dc movement. we will take a look along k street at this hour. things are moving i sleep. in about an all more or an hour- and-a-half from now it could be a very different scene. participants of the occupy dc movement say that they plan to storm k street. amount 7:30 some protesters are expected to fill the streets in this area and marched several different locations around downtown, including the imf world bank' -- imf, world bank, insurance firms, and other places. they will shut down k street. the encampment at mcpherson square a year ago first began in d.c. protestors lift in tents for 4 months before being driven out by u.s. park police. so expect some delays this morning in this area. if possible, take an alternate route. we expect they will gather in this area of around 7:00 this morning and began

. >> not a pretty picture. brianne carter was there during the height of the storm over night and is joining us now this morning with an update. >> good morning. when we weren't at the height of the storm last night and you could hear the wind howling. it seems we are still experiencing some very strong wind gusts down here. a lot to contend with in ocean city this morning. we do have light rain falling but it's much colder today and the wind gusting heavily and cutting right through you. there will be a lot to clean up in ocean city over the next couple days. look behind me and you can see one of those benches on the boardwalk. these were bolted down to the boardwalk. the wind and water pushed them down several streets. this is a similar sights all across the boardwalk in ocean city. there's more damage just in this block. look at this fence from the hotel swimming pool, dangling in the wind. they will have to repair that. we have seen several like this along the boardwalk today. the big thing they will have to look at is just the flooding. yesterday there were a lot of homes and businesses floode
